Our Defenders in Action:
In the Southeast:
Tracy Davids, our Southeast program coordinator on the left, represented Defenders at the Asheville City Council Meeting where Councilwoman Julie Mayfield read Mayor Esther E. Manheimer’s proclamation that May 19th would be recognized as Endangered Species Day in the city. We were excited to be there and support the city and its citizens for supporting biodiversity in its area and the conservation work that they are doing.
In the Southwest:
Pasha Feinberg, our Renewable Energy and Wildlife Research Associate, recently spent a few days in the Mojave, talking with agency staff and researchers about how to protect the federally threatened desert tortoise, and even helped with an offsite rescue! She also got an inside peek at a National Park Service field lab (which isn’t open to the public) so stay tuned for her in-depth blog.
