We invite you to use the following three lessons as lead-in activities before implementing the
lessons from the Reading, Writing, Social Studies, Technology, and Math
sections. The Big Bad (?) Wolf Quiz is a great first activity to find out what
your students really know about wolves. It is also fun to revisit this quiz after completing the
lessons in this manual to see how much knowledge your students have gained about wolves.
The Tracks of My Mind: Will the Real Wolf Please Stand Up? allows students to examine
their perceptions, thoughts and feelings about wolves and the origins of their knowledge
about wolves. The Community of Life: Two Activities for Younger Students invites students to
explore how a hypothesis is formed. This activity is a great way for students to learn how to
think like a scientist.
